Here he is, now! In few days Davide Amaduzzi is flying toward his new adventure of 2006. The Australian F 4000 powered by Holden isn't only a challenge, but it sounds like a real adventure as well.

First of all, Davide, explain to us what the F.4000 is!

“The F4000 is nothing else that the F.3000 of Oceania . The chassis, which are used, are open-free. Usually old European F.3000 chassis are utilized by the teams and above of all the F.Nippon ones. Mine, in particular, is a Reynard of the year 1996. So technically, the quality of these cars is superior to our F.3000. The engines, instead, are Holden (the Australian GM) 4000cc. V8 and supply a power approximately 400cv. So about ten or twenty CV less than our F.3000. Definitely the F.4000 is the most powerful, important and fastest single-seater league championship of Australia .”

Why did you make this choice, definitely so different from European's rules?

“Honestly, I got tired of racing on little powerful cars. Actually, I drove cars of the FIA GT Championship and some prototype cars last year, but all the means I had at my disposal were … little competitive cars … for euphemizing. I was also willing to race on touring cars, but honestly, for one pilot who has always driven on “formula” it's very hard “to play” with low speeds, pushed forward brakings, delayed accelerations … I do try, but it wasn't what my heart really wanted. I needed to do other things. The race options were all abroad, anyway: coming back to race the Canadian F2000 Championship or racing the Super Renault Championship in Argentina . Then it popped up the possibility of driving an F.4000. That was love at first sight!”

What do you expect this year since, among other things, your debut happens after three races are already run?

“In the early winter I intended to race the whole championship series and to make myself familiar with the car attending some winter tests. Obviously, in this case, my aim would have been the championship title. Then, because of some problems, the opening plan put off. At this point I'm going to Queensland without any car test and without knowing no one race-track. It's a real adventure that gives me a boost once more. I feel a big positive energy this year and I can't see anything negative even in that.”

And what are your aims?

“ My aim is to reach the top-five in the first two races. Then, with more experience and some test days, I'll try to win each race. But, I mustn't think about the championship for now.”

And what are your long-dated aims?

“ I'm going to Australia not to spend a holiday, moreover, after such a lot of flying hours, I can't be content to do only a reserve ranking. I give myself only the time for a couple of races. Anyway I've been looking at my long-dated aims as well. With John Calamos' Sydney Team I've got a contract for this year and an option on the 2007. Honestly it's in my Team's favour and that means I'll have the entire year 2007 planned, only if my performances in these races are good. Otherwise I'll have to plan my future in another way. But no way I think a negative season. I really believe in it.”

What do you want from F.4000?

At the moment I only want to win with this kind of car, since I've already done it more time with cars less powerful than these ones, both in Italy and abroad. For example, with the F.Renault in France , Barber Dodge in the USA , F.2000 in Canada . If I reach that, my aims will be moved towards other series like F.Nippon, Cart or A1Gp”

Is the F.1 a dream?

“ I don't think about it at all! I think people consider me “old”, even if I'd like to challenge some F.1' little boy in whatever hard sport. I'm quite sure they aren't well-trained as much as I am. The personal data and the biological one are two things completely different, but managers struggle to understand it. Anyway, what is nice of the impossible dreams is that, sometimes, they come true ....
